Indonesia was once a colony of the Netherlands who coveted the many spices found in the 'spice islands'. The Dutch established Jakarta as a port town base for the spice trade where many sailors were to make their fortune.
We visited the port today and found many beautiful old style boats and buildings. It was an unusual visit with how it contrasted to the rest of Jakarta's skyscrapers and cluttered roads.
